MEMBERSHIP
ACS members having an interest in inorganic chemistry are invited to join the Division of Inorganic Chemistry (DIC). Inorganic chemists who are not ACS members may become DIC affiliate members. A membership form is provided for the convenience of those wishing to join the DIC, which must be completed and submitted to the ACS at the address on the form. The benefits of DIC membership include access to DIC national meeting abstracts, eligibility for DIC awards, and entitlement to a DIC lapel pin. Additionally, DIC members vote in DIC elections to determine the leadership and future directions of the DIC. New members may fax a completed copy of their membership form or other evidence of DIC membership to the DIC Secretary (Bill Buhro, fax 314-935-4481) to receive a DIC lapel pin.
No dues are assessed during the first calendar year of DIC membership. Subsequently, the current annual dues are:
Regular ACS member $12
Student ACS member 6
Non-ACS member DIC Affiliate 14
ACS Affiliate member 12
Emeritus member 0
DIC members may also belong to one or more DIC subdivisions (at no additional cost). One must be a subdivision member to vote in subdivision elections. New DIC members may establish subdivision membership by completing the DIC membership form noted above. Existing DIC members may change or specify subdivision membership by calling the ACS at 800-333-9511 , or by emailing the ACS at service@acs.org , with a request that the appropriate s ubdivision code(s) be added to one's membership record. All such requests must be accompanied by a member's ACS membership number. The codes for the subdivisions are:
Bioinorganic Chemistry I17
Organometallic Chemistry H17
Solid-State and Materials Chemistry G17
Nanoscience J17
Current division and subdivision memberships may be confirmed in each member's ACS profile. Members may view and edit their ACS profiles by logging in at www.chemistry.org . E-mail is the primary means by which the DIC corresponds with its members. Thus, members are encouraged to maintain current e-mail addresses in their ACS profiles. These profiles are used to generate the regularly updated email lists that the Secretary receives from the ACS. The DIC email list is confidential, and is used only to convey DIC news, announce DIC elections, and to inform members of upcoming meetings and award and funding opportunities. This email list will never be provided to third parties, such as commercial advertisers.
